About Living Well
What is Living Well?
Living Well is a cancer-focused emotional well-being and support program designed to help you between appointments and throughout your cancer journey.
The program combines the Living Well app, evidence-based tools grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and personal support from trained Cancer Coaches. It can help with common challenges such as anxiety, stress, difficult emotions, sleep, uncertainty and adjusting to life during and after cancer treatment.
Living Well is designed to work alongside your oncology team, not replace it.
What is the Living Well app?
Living Well is an evidence-based digital program created specifically to support the emotional and psychological needs of people living with cancer. It is built around principles of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), one of the most extensively studied approaches for helping people manage anxiety, stress, difficult emotions and changes in behavior.
Living Well is more than a collection of articles or meditation exercises. The program guides you through a structured series of 22 interactive sessions that combine emotional and symptom check-ins, psychoeducation, practical exercises and tools you can apply in everyday life. Topics include managing anxiety and difficult emotions, changing unhelpful thought patterns, building healthier routines, problem-solving, mindfulness and relaxation, improving quality of life and coping with the physical and emotional challenges that can come with cancer. You can work through the program at your own pace, and your progress and check-ins can help your support team understand how you're doing over time.
Living Well was designed as a cancer-specific program, rather than a general wellness app. It combines the digital program with the option for one-on-one support from oncology-trained Cancer Coaches, creating a model in which the tools you use between appointments can be connected to real human support when you need it.
What does the Living Well app include?
Living Well gives you structured support that you can access when and where you need it.
The program includes guided CBT-based lessons, emotional and symptom check-ins, practical exercises, relaxation techniques, educational content and tools created specifically around the experience of living with cancer.
You can use Living Well at your own pace and return to tools and exercises whenever they are helpful.
How do I know it works?
Living Well has been evaluated across a growing clinical evidence program spanning randomized controlled trials, peer-reviewed publication, real-world payer implementation and ongoing U.S. studies. Rather than relying on a single study, Prosoma has built evidence across different countries, care settings and patient populations, with a consistent focus on the outcomes that matter most to people living with cancer: anxiety, depression, distress, quality of life and sense of control.
The strongest evidence includes:
- Peer-reviewed randomized evidence: In a German randomized controlled trial, Living Well significantly improved anxiety, distress and health-related quality of life compared with standard care. The study was published in Psycho-Oncology in 2024.
- Replication across larger trials: A Polish pilot RCT showed significantly greater improvement in anxiety, depression and distress within four weeks, while a separate 214-patient randomized study demonstrated sustained improvement in anxiety over 24 weeks.
- Real-world effectiveness at scale: In a national insurer program, among patients who began with severe symptoms, 63% experienced a clinically significant reduction in anxiety and 58% in depressive symptoms.
- Strong patient experience: Across 3,727 Living Well users, 94% said they would recommend the program, and 90% said it helped them manage their illness, rising to 93% among patients who also received coaching.
Prosoma is also extending this evidence base in the United States. An 80-patient randomized U.S. pilot has been completed and is under analysis, with an additional U.S. study planned with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Taken together, this body of evidence suggests that Living Well can meaningfully improve the emotional burden of cancer while helping patients feel more engaged, supported and in control throughout their care.
Who is Living Well for?
Living Well is designed for adults living with cancer who would benefit from additional emotional, practical or navigational support during diagnosis, treatment or survivorship.
Depending on your needs, support may include the Living Well app, one-on-one coaching, help navigating aspects of your care, or a combination of services.
A member of our team will help determine which services are appropriate for you and, if you plan to use insurance, verify your benefits before you enroll.
Does Living Well replace my oncology team?
No.
Living Well provides an additional layer of support around the cancer care you already receive.
Your oncologist and clinical team remain responsible for your cancer treatment and medical decisions. Living Well helps with many of the challenges that happen between appointments, including emotional well-being, coping with uncertainty, day-to-day challenges and, when appropriate, navigating your care.
Can I use Living Well if I already see a therapist or mental health professional?
In many cases, yes.
Living Well is designed to complement your existing care rather than require you to replace it.
Let our team know about the support you already receive so we can help determine how Living Well can fit alongside it. Your existing clinicians remain responsible for the treatment they provide.
Getting started
What happens after I sign up?
Getting started is simple.
- Talk with a Care Navigator. We'll explain the program, answer your questions and collect your insurance information if you would like to use your benefits.
- We check your coverage. Our team verifies your benefits and gives you a personalized estimate of what you may pay before covered services begin.
- Complete your initial visit, if required. Patients using insurance may have a brief virtual visit with a licensed healthcare professional to review their needs and determine the appropriate program.
- Get set up in Living Well. We'll help you download the app, create your account and understand how to use the program.
- Begin your support. You can work through Living Well at your own pace and, depending on your program, connect with a Cancer Coach or Navigator for additional one-on-one support.
Do I need a referral from my oncologist?
Not always.
Many patients can begin the Living Well enrollment process without obtaining a separate referral from their oncologist.
Some insurance plans or services may have additional requirements, so our team will confirm what applies to you before your care begins.
How much time does Living Well take?
Living Well is designed to fit around your life and treatment rather than create another burden.
You can work through the app at your own pace and use its lessons, exercises and tools when they are most useful to you.
If coaching or navigation is part of your program, conversations are scheduled with you based on your needs and availability.
What if I'm not comfortable using smartphone apps?
You don't need to figure out the technology by yourself.
A member of our team can walk you through downloading Living Well, creating your account and using the key features step by step.
And the human part of Living Well is exactly that: human. Your conversations with your Cancer Coach or Care Navigator happen with a real person by phone or video.
Cost & coverage
How much will Living Well cost?
We believe you should understand your expected costs before you decide to begin.
Your cost depends primarily on whether you use insurance and on the benefits available through your specific plan.
If you are using insurance
We work with many major insurance plans. Your exact responsibility can depend on your deductible, copay, coinsurance, the services you receive and whether you have secondary or supplemental insurance.
Before covered services begin, our team will verify your benefits and provide a personalized estimate of your expected out-of-pocket cost.
Based on historical claims experience from our clinical billing partner, patient responsibility for covered Living Well services has generally fallen within the following ranges:
- Initial visit / setup
Typical patient responsibility: $0–$50 one time - Living Well app and monitoring
Typical patient responsibility: $0–$9 per month - 30-minute support session
Typical patient responsibility: $0–$18 per session - 50-minute support session
Typical patient responsibility: $0–$26 per session
These are directional estimates based on historical claims, not guaranteed prices. Your actual cost may be lower or higher depending on your specific insurance plan, deductible and coverage.
What might that look like in practice?
Example 1: Your plan covers the services with no patient responsibility
- Initial visit: $0
- Living Well: $0/month
- Covered coaching: $0
- Estimated patient cost: $0
Example 2: Your plan applies modest copays or coinsurance
- Initial visit: up to $50
- Living Well: up to $9/month
- 30-minute coaching: up to $18/session
A first month including an initial visit, app access and one 30-minute coaching session could therefore result in approximately $0–$77 of patient responsibility, depending on your plan.
Subsequent months would generally not include the one-time initial visit.
Example 3: Original Medicare
After you meet your Medicare Part B deductible, Original Medicare generally pays approximately 80% of the Medicare-approved amount for covered Part B services and you may be responsible for approximately 20%.
Many Medicare patients also have a Medigap, employer-sponsored supplemental plan or Medicaid secondary coverage that may pay some or all of that remaining amount.
That means two Medicare patients receiving the same Living Well services can have very different out-of-pocket costs. One may owe a small monthly amount while another with supplemental coverage may ultimately owe little or nothing.
We'll check your coverage before you begin so you know what to expect.
Why can't you tell me one exact insurance price on the website?
Because insurance plans are different.
Two people who both have the same insurance company can have different deductibles, copays, coinsurance and supplemental coverage. Rather than give you a number that may not apply to you, we'll check your individual benefits and provide an estimate based on your specific plan.
No hidden fees. No surprises. You'll understand your expected costs before covered services begin.
What if I don't have insurance or don't want to use it?
Access to the Living Well app is provided at no cost for eligible patients.

Coaching & support
Who is my Cancer Coach?
Your Cancer Coach is a trained support professional with oncology-specific training who works alongside you throughout the program.
Your coach can help you work through Living Well, understand patterns in how you are feeling, develop practical coping strategies, stay engaged with your goals and identify additional resources or support when needed.
Your Cancer Coach does not replace your oncologist, psychiatrist, psychologist or other licensed healthcare professional. If something comes up that requires medical or clinical attention, our team can help connect or escalate you to the appropriate healthcare professional.
How often will I speak with a Cancer Coach?
Your level of coaching support depends on your needs, your program and the services you choose or qualify for.
Some patients may have regular scheduled conversations while others may use coaching less frequently. Your team will help establish a cadence that makes sense for you.
You can continue using the Living Well app between conversations.
Can my caregiver or family participate?
Yes, when appropriate and with your permission.
Cancer often affects the whole family. A caregiver or family member can participate in conversations when their involvement would be helpful.
We will always respect your preferences and privacy regarding who is involved in your support.
I still have questions. Who can I talk to?
You don't need to make a decision based on a website alone.
Our Care Navigators can answer questions about Living Well, check your insurance benefits, explain your expected costs and walk you through what happens next.
Privacy & safety
Is my information private and secure?
Protecting your health information is an important part of Living Well.
Living Well and its clinical partners use safeguards designed for healthcare information, and your information is handled according to applicable privacy requirements.
Before you begin, we'll explain what information is collected, how it is used and when it may need to be shared with members of your care team.
What happens if I'm feeling worse or need more support?
Living Well includes ongoing check-ins so changes in how you're feeling can be identified and addressed.
If your Cancer Coach identifies something that may require clinical attention, they can help escalate the concern to an appropriate healthcare professional or direct you back to your treating team.
Living Well is not an emergency service.
If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
If you are experiencing a mental health or suicide-related crisis in the United States, call or text 988.
Can I stop participating?
Yes.
You remain in control of your participation in Living Well.
If your circumstances change or you no longer want to participate, contact our team. We'll help you understand what happens next, including any scheduled services or prepaid coaching sessions that have not yet been used.
